PROFICIENCY IN READING AND WRITING WILL ATTRACT GRACE MARKS
Proficiency in reading and writing will attract grace marks for students said Shri. V. Sivankutty, Minister for Education, Govt. of Kerala. He was inaugurating the 28th P.N. Panicker National Reading Day / Reading Month celebrations 2023 at Trivandrum The Reading and writing has to be treated as a skill which has to be developed in all children from the age of 10 to make his studies meaningful and excellent, he added.
The programme was organized to commemorate the exemplary work organized by P.N. Panicker from 1945 through his vibrant library movement and subsequently making Kerala the first fully literate state in the world.
From the committed work organized by P.N. Panicker Foundation for the past 27 years, the reading month celebrations has reached all the 28 states, 9 Union Territories and 9 foreign countries and the message of reading has touched 315 million students by December 2022.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri. G.R. Anil presided over the function. Minister for Transport Adv. Antony Raju delivered the keynote address. Former Ministers Shri. O. Rajagopal, Shri. M. Vijayakumar, former MP Shri. Pannian Ravindran, Shri. T.K.A. Nair, Media Academy Chairman Shri. R.S. Babu, P.N. Panicker Foundation Vice Chairman Shri. N. Balagopal etc. spoke.
Smt. Rani George IAS, Principal Secretary, General Education Administered the Reading Pledge to the students. Award winning teachers were also felicitated during the occasion. A large numbers of students, teachers, parents and other literary luminaries participated in the events held at Udaya Palace Convention Centre.
